A new crop of nature lovers will be cultivated as part of a weekend of events hosted by V&A Dundee and the University of Dundee.
Over the Garden Wall is a free, fun-filled, interactive weekend of events encouraging the public to explore the beauty, design, science, and resilience of gardens through the eyes of University researchers.
Highlights include a family fun day featuring arts and crafts, a forest bathing experience, and club night featuring DJ and University alumni, KILIMINJARO. The events are intended to guide visitors on a journey through the green spaces that shape our lives through hands-on and interactive experiences.
Running from Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November, the event coincides with V&A Dundee’s own Garden Futures: Designing with Nature exhibition.
Emma Preston, Cultural Projects Manager at the University, said, “We know there is a huge appetite for people to reconnect with nature.
“This three-day event gives anyone of any age the chance to enjoy the wonders of the natural world and learn more about the science behind it.
“It has also been a fantastic opportunity to work with V&A Dundee, of which the University is a founding partner, showcasing the expertise that we have here to complement the Garden Futures exhibition. There are events and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved that we hope will give visitors new ways to appreciate the beauty of the natural world.”
Troy Nelson, Creative Programmer at V&A Dundee, added, “We’re really looking forward to opening the doors to Over the Garden Wall.
“Whether enjoying a spot of guided forest bathing where mindfulness meets immersive technology, creating garden-inspired art, or learning about the latest research in crop cultivation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
