The COVID-19 vaccination programme is continuing at pace with almost 60% of the adult population in Tayside now had a jab.
This week’s numbers:
Around 240,000 vaccines have been delivered in Tayside – 205,000 first doses and 35,000 second doses. This means that almost 60% of the adult population has had their first jab and 10% has had both doses of the vaccine.
91% of those in priority groups 1 to 8 have had a vaccination. Appointments for cohort 9 are underway and should be complete in the next week.
Second doses update:
- More than 16,200 frontline and patient-facing health and social care staff (57%) have been given two jabs.
- The vaccination teams have visited all care homes to offer staff and residents their second dose.
- If you had your first dose at a community vaccination centre you will receive a letter with your appointment details for your second jab over the coming weeks. Please do not contact the enquiries line to ask about dates as the teams are busy booking and issuing appointments.
- Members of the public who had their first dose at Kings Cross will be given an appointment for their second dose at the Caird Hall.
Next phase of programme:
- Invites for the under-50s will begin to be issued in the coming weeks with the aim of offering vaccination to everyone in these groups by July.
- This will done by age groups 40-49, 30-39 and 18-29.
- Letters will be sent to the address you have registered with your GP practice so it’s really important that your surgery has the correct details for you.
- If you’ve recently moved, or think your details may be out of date with your surgery, please get in touch to update your address.
Rescheduling appointments:
- If you are unable to attend your appointment, please reschedule for a more suitable date and time. This will ensure that appointments are not wasted and can be offered to other people. There is information in your letter for how to change your appointment through the national booking system.
Missed appointments:
- If you think you should have been offered an appointment and have not received one yet – e.g. if you are in priority groups 1-9 – you can complete the missed appointments form at https://invitations.vacs.nhs.scot/
Unpaid carers:
- People aged between 16 and 64 who provide face-to-face care for a family member or friend can register for a vaccination appointment using the national online system at www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine
Dr Daniel Chandler, Associate Director of Public Health with NHS Tayside, said, “NHS Tayside’s vaccination programme is making steady progress with almost 60% of adults now having had their first dose. It is really encouraging to see such high uptake among the first priority groups.
“The next few weeks will see us delivering significant numbers of second doses, whilst also completing the first phase of the programme and beginning to offer vaccinations to the under-50s.
”The vaccination teams are working really hard to co-ordinate all this and we would encourage the public to help them by making sure their address is up-to-date with their GP, waiting for their appointment letters and using the missed appointments form where appropriate.
