Simulation Collective partners with MedAscend to bring AI simulated patients to UK educators

Medascend

A new tool to strengthen clinical reasoning and formative assessment.

UK healthcare educators now have access to a practical new way to support clinical history taking and decision-making at scale, following a partnership between Simulation Collective and MedAscend.

MedAscend provides AI-supported simulated patients that give learners a safe, repeatable environment to practise questioning, reasoning, and clinical structure. For educators, this enables more consistent formative assessment, clearer insight into learner progress, and a tool that can sit alongside existing simulation, OSCEs, and teaching, without adding extra faculty load.

At its core, this partnership reflects a shared focus on solving real educational challenges rather than adopting technology for its own sake: supporting educators with tools that genuinely improve how future clinicians learn.

“The AI gold rush is on, but very few offerings will genuinely enhance the experience of healthcare students. After meeting Hana and Ahmed at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH 2026), I was convinced that the MedAscend platform can make a real difference to formative assessment and history taking across healthcare specialties. What’s most compelling is that it was created by healthcare students for healthcare students, ensuring a deep understanding of how it should be used.” – Jake Rahman, Founder of Simulation Collective

“After our November launch, we explored a UK partnership and spoke with several organisations. We were confident in the strength of what we had built. The more important decision was choosing a partner who genuinely understood our vision and the responsibility of representing it. Not everyone did.

From our first conversations at IMSH 2026, it was clear that Simulation Collective share our focus on quality, integrity, and long-term impact in healthcare education. We are proud to be working together to expand access to MedAscend across the UK.” – Ahmed Sharaf, Co-Founder & CEO of MedAscend
