First ever Scottish ATMP Apprenticeship

The Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) programme has been established by the CGT Catapult and the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP), of which BIA is a partner, through a £1.5M award from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).

ATAC is delighted to announce its first ever Scottish ATMP Apprenticeship – why not meet your skills needs through these funded apprenticeships?

This Modern Apprenticeship for Scottish employers is targeted for new entrants or existing staff to upskill in applied biological sciences and practical laboratory skills. Delivered by Forth Valley College, the apprentice will achieve a HNC in Applied Bioscience and SVQ Level 3 LATA, and can progress to the HND.

Modern Apprentices in Life Sciences carry out laboratory based investigations and scientific experimentation using established instrumentation techniques and a range of routine and specialised skills following well established principles associated with an organisation’s science and technology in Advanced Therapies. Typical job roles may include: Manufacturing Technician, Laboratory Technician, Microbiology Support Scientist, Process Development Technologist, Laboratory Assistant, Technical Specialist, Quality Control Laboratory Assistant, Laboratory Analyst or Laboratory Research Assistant.

If you think this may be something you would like to consider, please email apprenticeshipsinfo@ct.catapult.org.uk for further details.

Background

Advanced therapies have the potential to address significant and growing unmet healthcare needs. They offer the promise of treating and altering the course of diseases which cannot be addressed adequately by existing pharmaceuticals. The UK is at the leading edge of this disruptive industry and there is an opportunity to build a large-scale industry delivering health and wealth. ATAC has been established to develop the first apprenticeship programme designed specifically to train and upskill individuals to develop, manufacture and deliver these innovative therapies at scale.
