Dundee researchers named among world’s most influential

Four University of Dundee researchers have been named on a “who’s who” list of the world’s most influential academics.

Experts from the University’s Schools of Business, Life Sciences, and Medicine have been named in Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list.

The annual list identifies researchers who have demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.

Professor Lorraine van Blerk, Vice-Principal (Research & Innovation), said, “The University of Dundee has always welcomed innovative, ground-breaking researchers and is extremely proud of the impact of their work.”

Highly Cited Researchers are just 1 in 1,000 of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, further emphasising Dundee’s achievement as home to four such individuals.

The named researchers are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index. The list includes the celebrated Emeritus Professor John Raven, for decades one of the world’s leading plant scientists, who passed away last year.

The Dundee academics named in this year’s list are:

  • Professor Albena Dinkova-Kostova, School of Medicine
  • Professor John Peters, School of Life Sciences
  • Professor John Raven, School of Life Sciences
  • Professor Sudharshan Reddy Paramati, School of Business
