Employers, Teachers, and Professionals working in the science industry.
Event Overview:
Join us for an exciting evening as we launch Science Futures, a £1.9 million initiative dedicated to driving growth in the science sector across the Tayside region. Backed by the Scottish Government’s Tay Cities Regional Deal, this project brings together six key partners:
Dundee & Angus College
Dundee Science Centre
University of Dundee
Fife College
UHI Perth
The James Hutton Institute
Tayside is a thriving hub for the science sector, but one of the biggest challenges is attracting and retaining qualified staff. We need to work together to build a strong pipeline of talent. This will ensure that the workforce of tomorrow chooses to stay and work in the Tay Cities region, rather than being drawn elsewhere. The ripple effect on our economy depends on it.
Science Futures aims to inspire not only the next generation of scientists but also data analysts, technicians, engineers, laboratory staff, and many other crucial roles in the science industry. The project offers a range of initiatives—from encouraging school pupils to pursue science, to providing apprenticeships, work experience, and retraining opportunities for the current workforce. Through this collaborative effort, we are creating a future where science thrives both locally and globally.
