Professor Graeme Martin, University of Dundee School of Business: The Challenges in Creating Innovative Organisations

Drawing on his latest book and research, Graeme will discuss what it takes to be an innovative organisation, the ‘wicked problems’ they face, and the role of hybrid leadership, trust dynamics and change management in addressing these challenges.

Andrew Woodland, Tay Therapeutics Ltd: Overcoming Mutations

Bridging the divide between discovery and delivering patient-specific medicines is the goal of many biotech companies.

During this talk Tay Therapeutics’ will share how they discovered their own innovative approach leading to substantial improvements in patient care, and the trials and tribulations they’ve faced along the way.

Biographies:

Professor Graeme Martin

Graeme Martin is Professor of Management in the School of Business at the University of Dundee. He has extensive expertise in the fields of HR Management, management and leadership, and change management across various fields including Social Science and Medicine.

Graeme is currently Chair of the Scientific Board of the Centre for Global Human Resource Management at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and was a non-executive Board Member of NHS Tayside from 2018-23, and its Vice Chair from 2020-22.

Andrew Woodland

Andrew Woodland is CEO of Tay Therapeutics and is a highly experienced scientific leader, with over 20 years of drug discovery experience working in biotech and similar organisations.

Since joining Tay Therapeutics, he has overseen the discovery and out-licencing of two BET inhibitor drugs, and secured an in-license to a highly novel gene restoration technology he co-developed in the University of Dundee, which offers a paradigm shift in the treatment of severe genetic diseases like recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
