Karen Duncan the BioDundee Coordinator with Rob Taylor and Bruce Marshall, Specialists at Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) will be on-site at the James Hutton Institute on Friday 30th of May for people based there to have discussions with.

Rob is a dynamic and proactive business leader with a proven track record of success in both military and private sectors. He brings extensive experience in business leadership, professional engineering, operations, project/programme management, and digital business, all with a Lean approach. He is analytical, with robust planning skills, and adept at managing complex change, multiple stakeholders, and regulatory compliance. His sector experience spans Oil & Gas (including a £1m project with Chevron-Australia, Manufacturing, Rail, Logistics, Defence, and IT/OT Cybersecurity. He has been with the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service of Scottish Enterprise for almost 12 months.

Bruce has an Honours Degree in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow, gained registration in the UK and Canada as a laboratory technician during his six years of clinical laboratory work prior to moving to the private sector as an operations technician.
Quickly moving through supervisory roles to management level he has gained more than 18 years of operations and production management experience in Pharmaceutical GMP environments of production (Human and Veterinary), Medical Devices and Contract Manufacturing.

Utilising key Continuous Improvement techniques (5S, TIMWOODS waste reduction TPM, Kaizan) he managed the work being performed by a third-party filling and freeze-drying company, became a key member of the design team for a £45 Million manufacturing facility, increased facility output by more than 400% through expansion of cleanrooms and streamlining production.
Bruce has been a member of the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service for the past 13 years covering the Highlands and Islands Region. He has worked with manufacturing companies from sole traders to large firms with over 500 employees, Auction Companies, Social Enterprises, Charities, Cafes, Hotels, Entertainment groups and Community Enterprises.
