About the Role:
Occam Biosciences Ltd is a company devoted to a more sustainable future through the development of affordable cultured meat. We are looking for a versatile and adaptable individual to join our molecular biology and protein production team. While the company is still very much in a research and development stage, we are focused on working towards regulatory conditions.
You will be required to work in an organised manner both within a team and independently. Your main role will be to assist with protein expression and purification using conventional and novel methodologies, with emphasis on downstream processing as well as basic molecular biology procedures. Preferably, you should be familiar with a variety of purification methods, for example, affinity chromatography, ion exchange, GST etc.
As a small team, all staff members participate in general laboratory duties including but not limited to; cleaning and sterilising glass and plastic ware, ordering reagents/consumables and general cleaning duties.
Essential:
- Recent graduate HND or above
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
Desired:
- CRO experience highly adventitious
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (ligations, sub-cloning, mini-prep etc.)
- Experience with bacterial culture work
- Awareness of protein production procedures
