Science Futures is an innovative project to support the growth of the science sector across the Tayside region and is being led by Dundee and Angus College (D&AC). It aims to support the growth of the biotech, biomedical, and agritech sectors in the Tay Cities Region. The project has been awarded £1.975 million in funding through the Tay Cities Deal Skills Programme and involves a partnership with University of Dundee, Abertay University, James Hutton Institute, Dundee Science Centre, UHI Perth and Fife College.
The initiative focuses on developing strong partnerships between education and industry to ensure the curriculum is tailored to industry needs by identifying required skills. It seeks to expand course offering within the region with both full-time and short courses available to meet skill demands. The project aims to address skills shortages by creating a skilled workforce aligned with the growth of key sectors, raising awareness of science career pathways for diverse groups, and promoting inclusivity. Additionally, it aims to increase awareness and adoption of Modern Apprentice qualifications by collaborating with industry to boost apprenticeship numbers in the Tayside region during and beyond the project.
