Description

Healthcare provision is under ever greater pressure from simultaneous financial and health challenges. Added to this there are still many unmet needs for the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and monitoring of disease. The Centre for Medical Engineering and Technology brings Engineers, Physicists, and Life Scientists together with Clinicians to solve some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare.

Our research is challenge led, developing solutions to address real clinical needs whilst maintaining the link to the science and engineering developments that will provide the solutions of the future.

Healthcare of the future faces many challenges that include changing population dynamics, public expectations, need for improved delivery of care, early diagnostics and economic austerity.

By bridging the gap between engineering and medicine, Biomedical Engineers and Technologists are best equipped to combine a diverse set of skills to create solutions to continuing worldwide health issues, helping to change how patients are treated and lowering the cost of care, and transforming people’s lives for the better.

Products & Services

The Centre boasts state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure across both the City and Ninewells Campuses. Among its cutting-edge facilities, CMET collaborates closely with the TIME Hub, an innovation vehicle that interfaces with NHS Tayside, industry, and academics from the University of Dundee. Our high-tech facilities support the creation, development and testing of medical technologies, fostering innovation and further interactions with industry, University of Dundee and NHS Tayside.
