Scottish Metabolomics Facility Opens for Business

The Scottish Metabolomics Facility (ScotMet), is now open to receive samples and collaborate with academic and industry users. ScotMet is funded by the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance (SULSA) and is run jointly by the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.

Metabolomics captures the dynamics processes of living systems by simultaneously characterising and quantifying hundreds to thousands of metabolites. ScotMet is a world-class facility staffed by experts in metabolomics, who can provide training and sample analysis, as well as experimental design and data handling support.

The facility has state-of-the-art metabolite screening facilities incorporating two Thermo Orbitrap Exactive mass spectrometers, an Orbitrap XL MS with ion mobility source, an Orbitrap Classic, and DSQ-II GCMS capability. ScotMet also has considerable expertise in data analysis and translating mass spectra to useful biology.
