Life Sciences Outward Mission to Tel Aviv

Scottish Development International is organising a life sciences trade mission to Tel Aviv in February 2009. Israel enjoys a strong entrepreneurial culture which enables new ideas to be nurtured and developed, and this is especially true in the life sciences sector.

The Israeli life science industry is still young, yet growing and exuberant. Of the existing 918 companies, some 80% were founded during the last decade.

This mission will benefit companies based in Scotland that are involved in the Life Sciences industry, particularly those with an interest in stem cells, drug discovery and medical devices.

This visit will provide participating companies with the opportunity to explore the potential for partnerships, as this is a particular area of interest to Israeli organisations.

Further information is available on the Israel country pages of the UK Trade & Investment website: www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk or the British Embassy in Israel website: http://ukinisrael.fco.gov.uk/en

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Participants must arrange their own travel. It is recommended that you travel on Sunday 22nd February as there will be an Embassy briefing on the Monday morning and it is important to attend this. The likely route that the organisers will travel is Edinburgh or Glasgow to Heathrow, then El Al flights Heathrow to Tel Aviv. This can be confirmed to you once registrations of interest have been received. Travel to and from the airport in Tel Aviv will be arranged by SDI.

Accommodation has been provisionally reserved by our Embassy at the Carlton Hotel at a discounted rate of US$195 per night. This is for a superior room with a sea view and includes access to the Cadet lounge. The lounge is open 24/7 and has a free buffet with soft drinks, tea/coffee, light snacks, free internet access, access via personal room key.

Participants must settle their own account on departure from the hotel.

APPLICATIONS

A registration form is attached. If you wish to join it would be appreciated if this could be returned soonest to: elaine.philip@scotent.co.uk as places are limited. The deadline for registration is 15th December 2008, as our Embassy will need time to provide individual assistance where requested.
