ITI Life Sciences Continues to Maintain Science Success in Scotland

Scotland was once renowned for its entrepreneurs and inventors. From the telephone to the television, penicillin to paraffin oil, Scots have had a hand in many of the discoveries that make modern life bearable.

Now, a Dundee-based company is looking to recapture some of our former glory by ensuring we benefit from the lucrative life sciences research carried out in Scotland.

Public Lecture: Are you dying for a sun tan? January 20th, Tower Lecture Theatre, 7pm.

Professor Harry Moseley, Photobiology Unit at the Department of Dermatology in Ninewells, will be asking the question: Are you dying for a sun tan? The free lecture will take place on January 20th in the Tower lecture theatre at 7pm.

BIAS Thistle Bioscience Showcase and SE Life Sciences Annual Dinner, Edinburgh, 5th Febuary 2009.

The 2009 BIA Scotland Thistle Bioscience Showcase will be held this year in the Surgeon's Hall Complex in Edinburgh. The event will feature 15 min slots for each company to deliver their concept, their business model, their technologies and/or know-how and their ambitions for development, all under the critical eyes of a panel of experts from the life sciences industry. The showcase has been timed to coincide with the Scottish Enterprise Annual Life Sciences Awards and Dinner, which will be held that evening in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. BioDundee Company Visit and Networking Evening, Thursday 19th February, Clinical Research Centre Tayside at 5.30pm

9th Annual BioDundee International Conference

The dates for the 9th Annual BioDundee International Conference have been confirmed as Thursday 4th June 2009.  The event will be held in Dundee over two days and will feature a full Conference line-up on Thursday 4th, with a Gala Dinner in the evening, and on Friday 5th a Partnering Event hosted by Enterprise Europe Scotland.

The 2009 BioDundee Conference will be entitled Focusing on the Future- Tomorrow's world of biotechnology, and will cover key issues such as new pathways for drug discovery, the future of personalised medicine, market driven innovation and investor strategies.

The programme so far includes:

4th June - Full conference, drinks reception and gala dinner, Hilton Hotel, Dundee
